My name is Justin Sibley and I grew up in and graduated from Midlothian. I have been lifting weights since I was 15 years old and have almost always had a passion for fitness. I played every sport I could growing up but ended up sticking with soccer throughout High School. I went on to get my bachelor's in Business Marketing from the University of Houston in 2007 and immediately moved back to DFW. I did bodybuilding style workouts throughout college but for a long time, I had been looking for something different. I went through streaks in my life where I had stopped working out (fill in excuse here). Then the breaking point finally came - I had become sick of going to the gym and went through the longest streak of not consistently going to the gym in my life. About 6 months went by and I barely stepped foot in the gym and I saw myself getting more and more out of shape and unhappy about how I felt every day. I had heard about CrossFit from one of my younger brothers (Nathan) several years before but never gave it a chance. Finally, after some encouragement from my wife Toni (who had been wanting to try it for a long time), we decided to give it a shot. We went to G6 at 6 AM in May of 2013 and did our first workout. WOW is all I could say after I finally picked myself up off the floor after it was over. I was hooked! How do I sign up?! We held on to our Globogym membership at LifeTime for about 3 months thinking maybe we would go there ever so often. Nope! The only time we went back was to cancel our membership! From that very first workout, my wife and I have been obsessed with CrossFit (ask any of our friends or family - lol). My only regret is not listening to my brother when he started CF. I want to state that there is nothing wrong with the Globo gym, Zumba, boot camps, etc. if you are getting results and ENJOY it. I got results for a long time and built up a strong base that has helped me in CrossFit and life but working out because you feel like you HAVE to and working out because you LOVE it are two different things! I now get to share my passion for CF and fitness with people every day. So far I have received my CFL1, CFL2, & CF Weightlifting Trainer Certificates. I actually renewed my L2 in 2020, hard to believe I've been coaching for 7+ years!
Focus has always been my Achilles heel! My mind tends to run a thousand miles a minute and in the past, I have found myself committing to way too many things and pulled in too many directions to be able to truly succeed at what matters. It wasn't until the last couple of years that I have been able to reign that focus on "My Why". Nowadays I am able to focus (most of the time) on the task at hand and find myself saying no to things that I might have said yes to in the past. Whether it be an interesting business opportunity or staying out late knowing it will affect my mind and body the next day. If it doesn't meet my focus areas then I am likely to say no. Faith, Family, Health, Friends, Holt CAT and G6 Fit are my focus areas. If I concentrate on these areas relentlessly then I know I will be able to accomplish amazing things while supporting my amazing family and helping lots of people along the way! For me, it comes down to FAITH-FAMILY-FITNESS. If I keep those things in order then everything else I talked about above is much easier!
I love coaching! I coached an under 8 soccer team when I was in High School and I think I have always had a passion for it since then. There is nothing better than giving someone a coaching tip or cue that helps them get closer to their goals and watching their eyes light up when they accomplish it. Fitness is a massive part of my life and I love helping others to make it a bigger part of theirs!
